Fire Plan

Much of Santa Fe county is a wild fire area. In our effort to minimize fire risk to properties here at East Ranch, we have spoken with fire marshal Jaome Blay, emergency management director Martin Vigil, and fire prevention specialist Remmington Gillum. Remmington came out to East Ranch to assess escape routes and safety areas.

Escape Route and Saftey Area

As always, the primary exit route from East Ranch is Willa Cather to Ranch Road. The gate at Bishop Lamy Road is closed and will likely remain closed in the event of a fire.

It was determined that the cul-de-sac at the end of Loretto Trail could function as a safety area for a few vehicles.

As the exact conditions that we may be confronted with in the event of a fire cannot be predicted, all residents are encouraged to be alert and evaluate the conditions carefully when choosing their course of action.

Property Fire Assessment

You can arrange for Remmington Gillum to come out to your home and advise you on fire prevention measures in your landscape. This is a free service. Remmington’s phone number is 505-995-6532.

It was recommended that power yard tools, such as weed trimmers and chain saws, be used BEFORE 10 AM or AFTER 6 PM.
